phpBay Pro
Written by mbpage on December 4, 2008
An interesting lesson today. I have been developing a number of sites using phpBAY Pro as an alternative to BANS. This morning I noticed none of the sites were displaying auctions. I assumed a problem with the feed from eBay but no, BANS sites are all up and running.
I thought a visit to the phpBay forum may shed some light but, interestingly, this is offline as well. My conclusion at this stage is that Wade’s server has gone down and as a result the phpBay license is not validating and therefore returning no listings.
This is a cautionary note and I will investigate further but I really don’t like the thought that this plugin is validated via a third party before pulling the feed of a different third party. As things stand I cannot generate any revenue from my phpBAY sites at the busiest time of the year and I cannot find out what is going on. Another eventful day in the life of an internet marketer.

Thats the bit I don’t like about PHPBay pro - the licence.
I know it reduces the amount of piracy but it causes issues like you reported!

I agree. The servers were only down for 30 mins but a major outage ruins your business with no comeback.

Please comment on the site…

Hi Lee
Not a bad site in terms of its look and feel. The areas I’d seek to improve are the domain name (which is a mismatch from a seo point of view) and I’d use more keywords in the meta titles.
Must be very new as there is only one page indexed in google and the meta description is poor. Are you using the “all in one seo plugin”? If not install it and write individual meta titles and meta descriptions for each page.

Thanks for the review. Yes, it is a new site - experimenting with feedwordpress. I’ve got 6400 posts added in one evening with the plugin. I’ll see how it goes. It would be impossible to go through each post and add meta tags, keywords. Is there a way to “globally” add meta tags and keywords for each page?

@Lee
I wondered where all that content came from!!
There really isn’t any point in adding global tags but your individual pages must have unique meta titles and descriptions (it makes a huge difference to earnings).
